Trapezoids are of two types based on the sides – 1) **scalene** and 2) **isosceles trapezoid**.

When none of the sides of a trapezoid are congruent, then it is a **non isosceles trapezoid** or a **scalene** **trapezoid**. Since the four sides are of different lengths, they form 4 angles of unequal measures at the four vertices. It has two parallel sides (bases) and two non-parallel sides (legs). It exhibits all the properties of a trapezoid.

Visit the chapter on trapezoid to learn about the properties and formulas to find the area and perimeter of a scalene trapezoid.
